114 Children Emergency Service is a free emergency telephone line accessible from any house or phone boxes 24 hours a day to those who want to report emergency situations in which the psychological and physical health of children or adolescents is involved, or in which a child or adolescent is at risk of trauma. It is therefore necessary an immediate protective intervention involving the specific Services and Institutions in the territory. By using the 114 Children Emergency
Service it is also possible to report disturbing Following an initial, six-month experimental phase in the cities of Milan and Palermo and in the province of Treviso, on the 10th of November 2003, the inter-ministerial Commission of the Ministries of Communications, Equal Opportunities, and Work and Social Politics assigned to Telefono Azzurro the management of the Service linked to the Public Emergency Code 114. The agreement was signed with an entrustment Convention. With this new mandate Telefono Azzurro has taken the responsibility to gradually extend the Service to the entire nation for a period of three years with a subsequent extension of two years. Actually the service is activated in 6 regions: Lombardy, Veneto, Sicily, Lazio, Piemonte, Emilia Romagna. The entire national territory will have access to 114 by the end of 2005. |
